Hootsuite Changes 2021
For all those who use Hootsuite as their go-to posting platform for social media posting, you might want to jump ship. Hootsuite has made some Jurassic changes to its platform. On April 5, Hootsuite changed its free plan. Now going forward, you can manage two social accounts and schedule up to 5 posts with the free plan. Before, you used to be able to post 30 free posts. Why did they switch?
Although it is not as much as before, the free plan still has not gone away. Change is hard. But you should know, the free plan did not go away entirely. You still have the ability to manage 2 social accounts and schedule up to 5 posts for free. And if you choose to switch to the Professional plan, you can manage up to 10 social accounts and schedule an unlimited number of posts!
To check how many social accounts your Free plan is connected to, go to My profile my-profile.png, and then select Social networks and teams. If you only have connections to 1 or 2 social accounts, you are all set! If you manage more than 2 social accounts, consider changing this now so you can stay connected to the social accounts you care about most.
What do I do if I am managing more than 2 social accounts and 1 of them disconnects?
If you currently manage more than 2 social accounts, know that this change does not mean they are going to remove those additional accounts from Hootsuite for you. However, if one of your social accounts disconnects (for example, you change a password or the social network initiates a periodic disconnect), you will not be able to reconnect and manage more than 2 accounts on the Free plan. If you have an account that disconnects, you can do either of the following:
Connect to the 2 social accounts you care about most. You may have to reduce the number of social accounts you currently manage in Hootsuite to connect to the 2 accounts you want to manage with the Free plan (see Remove a social account). Consider switching your plan to one that allows you to manage more social accounts and work with additional great features (see Overview of Hootsuite plan types).
Similarly, if you have over 5 scheduled posts, you will not lose any of those posts. But, going forward, you will not be able to schedule additional posts on the Free plan until you are under the 5 scheduled posts limit. Hootsuite is still a wonderful platform for posting, but if your not interested in the new free plan and what that plan has to offer you and your accounts, don’t worry we have some solutions for you.
